Comprehensive Wine Tasting Course 101
$50 per class, or $85 for two classes.

Session 1
If you like wine but want to hone your palate, you won't want to miss this first class! Train your senses to recognize distinct flavor profiles (such as lemon, honey, chocolate, grass, and more) via an extensive and fun component tasting exercise (and afterwards you'll have a leg up on most wine professionals!)
Do you often buy wine and end up not liking the flavor profile? Or do you buy the same style of wine over and over because you're afraid to branch out? After this class you'll make more informed, smarter wine purchases!
Perfectly paired cheeses, nuts, bread and small dishes to teach you about food and wine pairing will be served.
In this class you will learn / experience:
- The basics of tasting wine - the five S's.
- How to talk the talk - learning wine vocabulary.
- A comparison of wines, flavor profiles, and how to recognize them through tasting nine to ten different wines from different regions including local producers.
- Component tasting exercise.
- A short background on wine; history, process, breakdown of components.
- Wine regions of importance.
Session 2
Yum - food and wine pairing! This is where you can put your newly acquired wine knowledge to use in the real world. Plus, it's where this wine class series stands head and shoulders above other offerings in stumptown. In this class you get the equivalent of a full meal within the class - small plates of several dishes that are perfectly paired with each wine.
In this class you will learn / experience:
- Food and wine pairing – from the basics to unique pairings – not just the traditional pairings!
- Ordering wine in a restaurant.
- Determining your wine palate.
- Navigating a wine shop.
- Great tasting wines don’t have to be expensive: finding wine gems in the stores.
- A nine to ten wine tour of food-friendly wines from sparkling to dessert.
